Breakfast event: Leading people down the path of change

breakfastimage_blog

The not-for-profit sector in Australia is undergoing a period of unprecedented change. From government funding cuts to sector-wide restructures and government pressure for mergers, managing change is something virtually unavoidable for NFP leaders and HR professionals.

So how can you not only cope, but thrive, in this environment of limited resources and constant change?

The hardest part of any change process is leading people down what can be a long and arduous path.

Not-For-Profit People is delighted to present three breakfast events in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane on 5, 6 and 7 May, focused on learning valuable ways to better manage change in your organisation, and keeping people engaged throughout the process.

What you’ll learn

Presented by frontline leadership expert and former human resources practitioner, Karen Schmidt from Let’s Grow!, you’ll learn:

  • The five reasons why change programs go wrong;
  • A simple model for recognising when people are disengaging during change, and the practical steps you can take to maintain engagement;
  • The essential conversation managers need to learn how to have if they want change to succeed;
  • How to create a culture that is change friendly and change ready.

The events are sure to generate fascinating discussions, as well as being a great chance to network with other leaders, managers and HR professionals from the not-for-profit sector.

Karen-Schmidt

Karen Schmidt is a frontline leadership expert, facilitator, coach, and former human resources practitioner who has been nurturing frontline leaders for more than 20 years. Karen has worked with an extensive range of NFP organisations, and with organisations of all shapes and sizes. The author of four books on the topic, she is passionate about helping to grow managers into leaders, and ensuring that they go from surviving to thriving.

It has been a busy year of review and change and Karen’s workshop was just what was needed. I would certainly recommend it to organisations that have gone through an intense period of change or just want to reinvigorate and support their staff.” Leigh Garwood, CEO, Seeing Eye Dogs Australia.

“Informed, vibrant, funny, creative and thought provoking! Many people said that you are the best speaker they have ever heard and no-one wanted your session to end.” Carol Wood, New Zealand Federation of Disability Information Centres.
