Looking for a great way to empower your organisation’s staff to make an impact?

Energy efficiency in the workplace can provide your staff with a healthier, happier, more sustainable work environment, while at the same time saving your organisation money.

Uniting Care Community is one of Queensland’s largest NFPs, with 297 properties across the state. UCC has implemented a sustainability plan that reduced the cost of electricity, water and waste across their organisation by $50,000. It also made them a finalist in the 2014 Premier’s Sustainability Award. The key to their success was to start by engaging staff.

If you, or others in your organisation, want to learn some practical tips to help implement energy efficient practices in your workplace, the The Give Grid are providing free workshops for paid and volunteer workers in the community sector!

Not only are the workshops free and practical, but they also provide you with an opportunity to connect and share ideas with other like-minded organisations.

The Give Grid is a new initiative of ACOSS and describes itself as a “hub for sharing and supporting good energy stories”. In a nutshell, they want to help NFP organisations to save energy so that they can save money and spend it on the things that really matter.

The Free Energy Efficiency Workshops are happening right across Australia –

  • Darwin: Wednesday 3rd September, 9am-5pm
  • Sydney: Monday 8th September, 9am-4.30pm
  • Melbourne: Wednesday 29th October, 9am-5pm

You can find out more information and book your spot via their website.

If you can’t make it to a workshop there are some great factsheets online to help you kick-start an energy saving program in your workplace today.  We think the Give Grid website and workshops are a great initiative for community organisations.  If your organisations has supported and encouraged staff to implement energy saving strategies, we’d love to hear about it in the comments below.
